5-Day Moroccan Desert Trek

We’ll depart from Marrakech at 8 a.m. and head to Ouarzazate, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tichka Pass (2,260 m). Upon arriving in Ouarzazate, you’ll discover Morocco’s cinema capital. We will continue through the Anti-Atlas, descending into the Draa Valley with its ksars, stunning fortified villages, and the town of Zagora. From there, we’ll head to the great desert of Nesrat, where we will meet our team of camel drivers. Overnight under tents. We’ll spend 7 hours on the road this first day.

 This will be our first day of trekking. We’ll walk down the Draa Valley, passing through charming Berber villages like Ignaoun and Moulay Ali Achrif, where we’ll meet locals. We’ll then head to the village of Zaouiat Sidi Salah (the regional capital). Lunch will be prepared by our cook in the middle of an oasis. After another 1.5-hour walk, we’ll reach our camp at the foot of the large Tidri dune. Overnight in tents. We’ll walk for 5 hours during the day.

A beautiful stage where you’ll climb and descend the golden dunes of Tidri. We’ll cross a rocky plateau (known as a Reg) with its stony desert. Here, there is very little sand, just the silence of the desert in the heart of the untouched dunes of Erg Sahel. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the dunes and enjoy the magnificent sunset at the end of the day. In the evening, we’ll prepare a fire and bake bread in the sand. Overnight in tents. 5 hours of walking.

On our last day of walking, we’ll discover desert landscapes near the village of Bonou. We’ll have lunch near the village of Ergabi. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the architecture and mudbrick houses of Ergabi, before heading to the village of Oulad Driss. Overnight in tents. 5 hours of walking during the day

 Transfer back to Marrakech (450 km) via the Draa Valley, Ouarzazate, and the Tizi N’Tichka Pass. Several photo stops are planned along the way.
