6-day Erg Chigaga camel trek

Transfer by 4×4 or minibus to the camel trek’s starting point via Tizi-n-Tichka (2260m), the highest road pass. After lunch in Ouarzazate, we continue to Draa Valley, known for its beautiful palm groves and ksars and an amalgamation of ethnic, linguistic, and historical groups. We will cross a vast plateau leading to the foot of Jebel Bani and meet our camel team. Dinner and night in tents.

After breakfast, we start our trek in the Sahara desert. We will climb the small Faija Pass, from where we have a panoramic view of the Faija plateau. We will discover a natural mountainous desert (black mountains), with just a little greenery and a few nomads under Nomadic tents made of goats’ and dromedaries’ hair. Lunch will be prepared next to Regabi Wells. Then we will descend through the Oued Lemhasser to reach our camp. Overnight in tents. 6-hour trek.

We will descend a beautiful desert valley before leaving it to reach the immense desert, which begins with a vast stony plateau. The panoramic view of Erg Chigaga dunes is so tiny, seen from afar, and stunning. Finally, we will reach the dunes of Chigaga and enjoy a beautiful sunset walk at the end of the day. Overnight in tents. 6-hour trek.

We continue walking through many small dunes of Erg Chigaga. Then we head towards the east of Bani mountain and Mhamid El Ghizlane. Our lunch will be prepared by our cook under the tamarisk trees. Then we will continue towards the dunes of Bouguern, a magnificent place, little frequented. We will find enough dry wood there to light a campfire. Overnight in tents. 6-hour trek.

Today, we get up early to enjoy the sunrise over the beautiful dunes of the desert. Then, we will walk through a flat desert of small stones along a less stony plateau. We will get water at the well on our way, then continue to reach Oued Nâam’s dunes. Overnight in tents at the foot of beautiful Oued Nâam, where nomadic caravans come to get water. 6-hour walk.

End of our Erg Chigaga camel trek. After saying goodbye to our team of camel drivers, we will leave in the car towards Ouarzazate, crossing the High Atlas Mountains by Tizi N’Tichka pass to reach Marrakech. 7 hours drive.
